Wow! May already and its pre-sale time before the book launch on world environment day June 5th.
Eeek, my heart feels a bit giddy as I prepare to share my Pongo to the world, as if I’m handing over a physical ape, which has been part of my journey for more than a year.I can almost imagine the same feeling occurs when a foster home hands over the guide or service dog they have raised for a year, knowing that they were always intended for a bigger purpose, but nonetheless they are yours and part of your heart forever. Pongo helped me through such hard times, days when I never knew if I could be healed or “normal” again as my back gradually collapsed and left me bed bound and without hope.
The days I spent travelling in my mind to the green lush forest of Borneo, imagining what his home looked like whilst wondering if I would ever be in a position to visit it. More so, would I ever meet him, a bright orange spikey haired young ape, ahh it was a lovely dream that turned into a book. And now, we must face the world and hope you enjoy that journey as much as I did. That my Pongo can become our Pongo and the world can fall in love with him as I did.
Mostly I hope the message the book has can be understood and embraced and forest homes like Pongo's can remain just that. And for me; well having recovered from major back surgery last year, the trip to Borneo is on in just a few months where I will finally meet my Pongo and see his home! What an exciting year!.
